"body": "Lisa got into this work the way a lot of parents do. She watched what state budget decisions did to her kids' classrooms, and she decided the cleanest fix was to help write the budget herself.\n\nBefore Olympia, Lisa was a lead engineer and project manager at Boeing and a software consultant. She and her husband Bryan raised their son in the Issaquah Highlands, where she served two terms on the Issaquah School Board, including a stint as president.\n\nIn 2018, she became the first Democrat in modern memory to win the 5th LD's Position 2. She has won every election since by larger margins. In 2024, she took 56% of the vote.\n\nIn Olympia, Lisa serves as Vice Chair of the Capital Budget. In January 2026, she stepped in as Acting Chair and led negotiations on a $910 million supplemental budget that put more money into school construction, affordable housing, and flood response. She co-chairs the state's Children & Youth Behavioral Work Group and serves on the Education and Children, Youth, and Families committees.\n\nThe work has results. Five Callan bills passed the House in 2024 alone. Her HB 2180 raised the cap on special education funding and passed both chambers without a single no vote. Her early-learning bills helped lock in roughly $100 million for childcare construction. Her HB 1580 created the Children & Youth Multisystem Care Coordinator to find homes for kids stuck in hospital ERs.",
